One great joy and privilege in reviewing books, is discovering new authors. Dr. Earl D. Radmacher has been writing for decades, but is quite new to me. Jeremy Myers’ Redeeming Press has brought another, updated, version of one of Dr. Radmacher’s books (‘What to Expect From The Holy Spirit’ being the first). Dr. Radmacher’s book, ‘You and Your Thoughts: The Power of Right Thinking’ is a much needed tome on the subject described.

In a very different toned book, than his ‘Holy Spirit’ book, Dr. Radmacher tackles his subject with wit, humor and common sense biblical advice. This book is not so much a theological volume as a book of advice. The common man, including Christians, have been thinking the wrong way for too long. He encourages us to turn our minds to more biblical way of thinking, chapters include titles like; ‘What you think is what you are’, ‘Where right thinking begins’, and ‘The battle for your mind’, to name just a few.

His treatment of ‘right thinking’ on our mind, the church and prophecy are intended to turn us toward the proper way to think, as the Bible describes. In his chapter on, ‘Where right thinking begins’, he said, “Although I cannot understand everything that goes on in the world, I derive assurance from the Bible that God’s ways are perfectly holy and wholly perfect.” This type of practical, clear thinking is interspersed throughout his management of the subject.

“I submit to you that there is only one place where you can find a fully adequate, undistorted, perfect picture of God. It is in the person of Jesus Christ.” Is in his chapter on ‘A perfect picture of God’ and is just one example of his clear, uncompromising stance on the truths of God’s Word and its ability to help us live right. Again, in the same chapter, “We may safely say, then, that the only begotten Son of God is the exegesis, the exposition, and the explanation of what God is like. He is the God-manifestation. A perfect picture of God!”

I highly recommend this book as a great practical guide for any Christian. There is practical value, theological strength and clear illustrations to his point. I can’t fail to point out that his humor, throughout the book, is very much a surprise. It helps in making his points (as opposed to humor for just humor’s sake) along the way.

Pick up your copy today, it will be a valuable asset to your library and help to those seeking to free their mind from this world’s influences.
